The Counter-Strike meta has changed a lot over the years, and we want to talk about the biggest changes of them all, the buffs and nerfs that brought us to the state of the game we’re witnessing today.

## 2015 AWP Nerf

Ever wondered what happened to KennyS, JW, and other insane AWPers of early CS? They seem to have fallen off at one point. Well, that’s because they flew too close to the sun, causing the AWP’s scoped movement to be nerfed, forcing them to adapt their style. While they were still excellent, they were never quite the same.

Why did this happen? Quick scoped movement made the AWP similar to how the scout works right now, allowing for really dynamic movement and accuracy. This meant that skillful AWPers could play extremely aggressively and use the AWP to surprise riflers. This nerf really promoted the more “conventional” AWPers and halted the meteoric rises of JW and KennyS.

The AWP was also later changed to have less ammo, lowering its mag from 10 to 5.

## AUG and SG-553 Price Change and Nerf

Oh boy, this was a funny one. For years, the two scoped rifles were deeply unpopular, considered noob-cannons, and the like. Then, in 2018 Valve lowered their price by $200, and suddenly everyone discovered that they were actually incredible, offering great damage with low recoil and awesome accuracy. Suddenly, everyone forgot about M4s and AKs, opting for AUGs and “kriegs”.

It didn’t last long, as Valve soon increased the price of the weapons, and after seeing that even that didn’t dissuade its biggest fans, it made modifications to its firing model to make sure that the weapons returned into the niche whence they came.

## Loss Bonus Change

If you watch older CSGO matches, you might hear the casters referring to “resets” anytime a team breaks a round loss streak. That’s because, back in the day, some teams didn’t mind losing a round or two in a stomp, as the loss bonus completely reset after one won round.

## UMP-45 Nerf

There was a time when the UMP was basically better than the FAMAS. And it was a long time, but it ended in 2017 when Valve decided to effectively kill the UMP by limiting its long-distance damage and making it a very situational weapon. By essentially cutting the effective distance of the UMP in half and deleting it from the Counter-Strike meta.

## Tec-9 Nerf

2017 also saw the nerf of the Tec-9. A weapon with tremendous impact on the meta, many plays from the likes of olofmeister (aka Tec9meister) and many lost anti-ecos led Valve to decide that perhaps giving a $500 pistol the ability to spray down opponents wasn’t ideal. They changed the firing model of the Tec-9. It’s still a good weapon, mind you, but just not the insane weapon it used to be.

## CZ75-Auto Nerf

The CZ was a similar case for Valve, as for a long time it was an amazing buy for highly skilled players, allowing you to double-tap opponents from very far away. In 2018, the CZ was nerfed… slightly. However, the slight nerf made the Five-SeveN more viable and returned the Tec into T-side loadouts.

## The M4 Merry-Go-Round

The M4A1-S and M4A4 debate has been rapidly changing over the years in Counter-Strike. The A1-S in particular went through a lot of changes, including a point where it had 25 bullets in the mag, before being once again lowered to 20, a price change to $2900, which recently prompted a price change for the M4A4 to $3000.

## Counter-Strike 2

Well at the end, there’s Counter-Strike 2. The changes to the meta mostly consist of the change to the smoke model, meaning that a smoke can now be both a wall and an opportunity when used with an HE grenade. Of course, the new netcode and graphics also changed a lot. But now we’re here, with our weird meta. What will come next?

He won 3 Majors with fnatic, including a Major MVP. Despite controversies, the Swede deserves a spot on our list.

The king of early CS:GO, GeT_RighT is known for his insane gamesense and love for the game. He was already ranked top in the Counter-Strike 1.6 days before transitioning into a role in one of the most dominant teams of all-time in NiP, with 5 consecutive Major final appearances including one win. Known for insane timing and clutches, GeT_RighT definitely got his career right, making this spot much deserved.

A cornerstone of Astralis’ reign of terror, this Dane was never quite the top player in any year, but always one of the absolute best. NiKo is one of the unluckiest CS players of all-time in that he never had “his” era, always being overshadowed by one of the next three. Two-time Major Champion and Brazilian legend, coldzera at one point was considered to be the GOAT of Counter-Strike, however, after winning two HLTV Player of the Year awards, coldzera has gone cold. Be that as it may, he’s still one of the most important players in Counter-Strike history. His double jumping AWP against Liquid at MLG Columbus is etched in CS history, and definitely one of the best of all-time.

The French superstar rose to prominence in 2018, immediately becoming the Top HLTV player of the year, a feat he’d repeat two more times after that. He’s a one-time Major Champion, and consistently one of the two best players in the world, fighting battles against the next player on our list for that title. ### People who don’t mute their mic
Look, sometimes you have a noisy background, and that’s fine. What’s not fine is not reacting to it appropriately by not turning on push-to-talk and leaving your mic open all the time. We really don’t want to hear your mom’s blow dryer going off while you scream about lunch, dude. Use push-to-talk.

### People who always full buy
The economy is a crucial aspect of Counter-Strike and it can win or lose you the game. That’s why, we absolutely HATE when players decide they don’t want to buy proper weapons together, but force buy deags, Galils and SMGs every other round.

### Cheaters
This one is pretty obvious. Cheaters are the worst, and unfortunately, CS2 is filled with them, forcing people to go to outside services like FACEIT in search of a fair game. With the anti-cheat only working 10%, sooner or later you’ll find yourself in a lobby with a lame dude who can’t win without digital steroids. The worst thing about this cheater epidemic? Good players get caught up too, being called out for cheating, when they simply know how to play the game. And that’s really unfair.

### People who don’t give full info
If you die, tell us where you died, and how many people are coming. Comms are perhaps the most important aspect of the game, defining rotations, executes, and overall tactics. If your teammates don’t know where you got killed from, they might end up dying themselves. People screaming “THERE THERE THERE” are absolutely useless. Learn callouts and start using what you’ve learned to point your teammates in the right direction.

### Backseat gamers
You know what we’re talking about. You’re in a clutch, ready to make the play of your life, and suddenly the in-game voice chat lights up with the “smartest” dude in the team deciding to tell you what to do and trying to give you some “much-needed” information. You just want him to shut up since you can’t hear your opponent’s footsteps, but he won’t stop. “PLANT BLUE, PLANT” he screams, before you get shot after which you hear “OMG BLUE U SUCK, KICK PLZ”. Backseat gaming is borderline criminal. Don’t do it if you want to have Counter-Strike friends.

### Netcode issues
We all know this all too well. We aim perfectly. We fire our AWP. And it misses. Why? Because of NETCODE, the bane of every CS2 player’s existence, an absolute nightmare for AWPers and riflers alike, causing desync between client and server. While some of your shots were really missed… some were only missed on the computer that calculates what’s going on.

### Decoy AWPers
Some people just shouldn’t AWP. It’s fine, not everyone is a point-and-click master. But what’s important is that you admit your shortcomings and avoid spending $4750 on what is at best a decoy, and at worst a free cannon for your opponents. Unfortunately, some people fancy themselves snipers despite the evidence to the contrary, losing key positions and giving up the weapon to their opponents. Don’t be that guy. If you can’t AWP, practice with bots until you’re decent enough to hit at least every other shot. And if you’re outmatched by a better AWPer, don’t just be a human sacrifice. Use some ingenuity to be better.

### Matchmaking
Unless you have a five-stack, matchmaking is a wild world with wild people. Sometimes, when you find a cool team, it’s great. Supportive, fun, and all that. But most of the time… it’s hell, and we know it. People with bad mics, people who don’t communicate in English, people who swear at you, people who troll, smurfs, and of course, cheaters.

### Lucky shots
Don’t you hate it when you have a perfect position, you’re ready for your opponent, he runs, you start clicking, but before you know it, he hits a perfect lucky jumping headshot, and the site is his. You know he didn’t deserve the kill… but sometimes, luck takes bullets all the way to your head. And hey, the most legendary plays, like Coldzera’s jumping double or KQLY’s jumping headshot are among them. Wayne Gretzky once said “you miss all the shots you don’t take.” Well yeah, but do they have to be so friggin lucky?

10 Best M4A1-S Skins in CS2


So, you’re new to Counter-Strike 2? Bet you want to make the most out of your experience! In this CS2 beginner’s guide, we’ll take you through the absolute basics of this classic online shooter, and answer some burning questions you might have.

## Gameplay Basics

First thing’s first. Unless you’re coming from VALORANT, CS2 is unlikely to be like any FPS you’ve played up to this point. It requires precise mechanics and a lot of knowledge to play… not just at the highest level, but at any level. So before you head to matchmaking, be sure to **go to Deathmatch first and try to figure out the firing model**. Deathmatch gives you infinite and instant respawns, so there’s minimal downtime and lots of opportunities to practice your skills.

### Starting Weapons and Aiming Accuracy

You will only realistically be using a few weapons at the start: the starter pistols (Glock, USP/P2000), the M4 (A1-S or A4), and the AK-47. If you are a sniper, you might also want to [use the AWP](https://pirateswap.com/blog/article/cs2-awp-guide). You will also use some other pistols and SMGs at times, but you should focus on mastering these five weapons if you want to be successful in the beginning. Note that in order to be accurate, all of these weapons require you to stand still while shooting.

That’s right: if you’re coming from COD, that will be your biggest gameplay barrier. No matter how good your aim is, the movement inaccuracy on most weapons in Counter-Strike makes it nearly impossible to move and shoot at the same time. So, while you’re practicing in Deathmatch, try to develop a habit of stopping before shooting. 

Once you figure out the movement, another important thing to keep in mind are [spray patterns](https://leetify.com/cs2-spray-patterns) for the M4 and AK-47. You can’t simply fire the weapon and expect the bullets to go where the crosshair is, you have to learn how to control the spray as the weapon recoils. The general vibe is pulling down and slightly to the right. Also, remember that the AK-47 kills with a single headshot, while the M4 will need a headshot and an extra shot for armored opponents, so keep your weapon at head or neck height for the best results.

Playing Deathmatch will also help you achieve a rank that will allow you to unlock competitive modes in the game.

## Matchmaking

Matchmaking is the main mode you’ll be playing in CS2. It has two aspects, Premier Mode, which requires the paid Premier pass, and per-map ranks. In general, Premier Mode is the most prestigious mode in Counter-Strike, but you might want to consider playing the competitive map pool on a per-map basis before you get into it.

Map knowledge is crucial in Counter-Strike. We’d recommend starting off with the most popular maps: Dust II, Inferno, and Mirage, before heading into the others. These three maps feature classic designs that will help you learn popular Counter-Strike strategies for teamwork and for planting/defusing the bomb. 

### Settings

Before you head into the game, there are some settings you should change. Definitely avoid using the dynamic crosshair once you have your movement figured out. It’s rather distracting, and won’t help you in any way.

Be sure to also fiddle around your sensitivity. Lower sensitivities are preferred by most pro players, as they can be more accurate, however, some play on higher sensitivities. What you have to figure out is how that works with your playstyle.

All set? Alright. You’re ready for the next important lesson:

## The Economy
Before starting your first competitive game, you have to understand the one thing that will give you an advantage over other noobs. The economy. Buying the right weapons at the right time is absolutely crucial to beat the other team. You’ll hear three main callouts for a buy from your teammates:

**Full Buy:** Buying all the equipment you need, including a rifle, a set of grenades, and a defuse kit for the CTs. This comes up to around $5000 for Ts, and $5500 for CTs. The cost will be higher if you buy an AWP, but that’s not recommended unless you’re absolutely certain you can get kills with it. 

**Force Buy:** Buy with whatever you have. You do this when you know that you won’t have enough money to Full Buy the next round. Buy the weapon you’re most comfortable with, but remember to buy armor because otherwise, you’ll just get absolutely destroyed. 

**Full Eco:** DO NOT BUY ANYTHING. You do this when you know that buying anything will prevent you from buying what you need in the next round. It’s better to sacrifice this round for the next one.

In Counter-Strike, each team gets $3250 for winning a round, with an additional $250 if they win by exploding or defusing a bomb. Losers get $1400, with an additional $500 for every consecutive round loss up to $3400. If the losers win a round, their win will lower the consecutive losses counter by one. The loss bonus counter is displayed on the leaderboard when you press the Tab button.

Now that you know that, let’s get into the game.

## Basic Gameplay Loop

Your main goal is to either defuse a bomb or plant one and ensure it explodes. There are two teams: Terrorists (Ts) and Counter-Terrorists (CTs), and you can guess which one does what. When playing as Ts, you’ll attack either of two bomb sites. As CTs, you’ll be defending against those attacks. The game is played until a team wins 13 rounds, or a tie occurs at a 12-12 scoreline.

Your first games will be chaotic, especially if you don’t know the maps. While the text under your radar might help you, the callouts (location names) may vastly differ depending on region, or even the experience of the folks you’re playing with. You will learn this organically as you go along.

In terms of pure gameplay, focus on the basics: protect the site you were assigned on CT-side, don’t play too aggressively if you’re not sure. Always group up on the T-Side, and play a team game. Even dying might be a worthy cause, if you give your teammates a chance to trade your kills. Whatever you do, do not get killed while carrying the bomb alone. If you want to go alone, you can drop the bomb using the “G” button.

## Additional Tips

* There are tons of awesome YouTube videos to teach you grenade usage, check them out. 
* Talking is winning. Calling out your opponent’s position can be a big boon to your team.
* If you’re struggling with spraying, try tapping in rapid bursts, they will help you control your shooting as you learn the spray pattern of a weapon. 
* If you have a lot of money and your teammate is crouching next to you, they’re likely asking you to drop them a gun.
* When you have the choice between going solo against multiple opponents and saving your weapons, save your weapons.
* Pros don’t fake… Well, that’s not entirely true, but don’t overuse fake defuses or fake plants (where you pretend to complete either action, but don’t actually complete it, to confuse the opposing team). Eventually, you’ll end up running out of time.

His cousin eventually suggested Zywoo, because… Zywoo was the first player to reach level 200 in the game. With a name like Robin Kool, you’d expect ropz to have a cooler nickname, but in the end, it’s a simple name with a simple origin story. ### Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov
This Ukrainian super-sniper really pulled a fast one on us, as his answer to the question of what his nickname means was literally “I made it up, it has no meaning.” Well, in that case, Mr m0NESY, keep your secrets. Although, we can imagine the word “Money” was the starting point.

### Lotan “Spinx” Giladi
We don’t have an origin story for Spinx from the man himself, that’s why we’re going to have to theorize, and our theory is one stolen from the HLTV forums, that his nickname is actually Spin X. Why? Who knows. Somebody’s going to have to ask him.

### Alvaro “SunPayus” Galvar
The former Movistar Riders star is another enigma. Redditors theorize that it’s a bastardization of the word “senpai”, or the Spanish “pais” meaning country. Sunny Country? Who knows? Perhaps one day somebody will get to ask Alvaro.

### Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev
While he’s still on his CS2 sabbatical, s1mple’s nickname has a similar origin to m0NESY’s… He just came up with it. And added a 1 to make it interesting. That’s all. Think that’s boring? WELL HOW DID YOUR NICKNAME COME TO BE?

### Dmytry “sh1ro” Sokolov
We couldn’t find a source for sh1ro’s nickname, but we have a sneaking suspicion that it’s related to the Japanese word “Shiro”, meaning white. It’s been around in manga, anime and other media, and you probably know somebody with a similar name, so hey… one of them is a CS2 pro!

### Martin “stavn” Lund
While we don't have a source for this one, the dictionary came in handy here, as stavn means “anvil” in Danish, meaning we’re dealing with Martin “The Anvil” Lund here, which is pretty cool. And we’re guessing that that’s how stavn’s nickname came to be. It’s just bloody cool.

### Helvijs "⁠broky⁠" Saukants
The dictionary saves us once again, as we couldn’t find any meaning for the life of us. Broky doesn’t have a meaning in Latvian (it does mean “shotgun” in Czech, but that’s a longshot), and we don’t really know what’s the meaning behind it. Is it a reference to breaking stuff? We’re going to have to ask him some day!

### Nikolai “dev1ce” Reedtz
dev1ce’s nickname apparently stems from the silly phrasing of “computer device” that we’d see on older PCs, however, what’s more interesting is that his name has evolved over a few times, in the public eye no less, as he was already competing in Valve sanctioned events, and needed permission to change anything. He started off with Device (fun fact, he also invented Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander’s nickname!), but then he decided to switch to “devve” in 2016, a shortened version of the name, before changing it back to… “dev1ce” a few months later. He kept that ever since, though.

### David “frozen” Cernansky
We couldn’t find a source for frozen’s nickname, but we do believe it’s pretty self-explanatory. We doubt it’s a reference to the Disney film, but we do believe it just sounded cool to a young player. By the way, frozen’s been playing pro since he was 13. Can you believe it?

### Nemanja “huNter-” Kovacs
NiKo’s cousin doesn’t have an epic origin story behind his nickname, but hey, at least it’s easy to understand. Being a hunter is just the ultimate CS2 goal. You want to hunt other players, and avoid being hurt in the process. huNter-’s presence in the Top 20 shows that he’s skilled in that regard.

### Guy “NertZ” Iluz
This one took some digging. With no interview, and not even a forum theory, we had to put our detective hats on and found “נערץ” in Hebrew which transliterates to “n’rtz” in English and can be written as nertz if you want to make it a nickname. What does it mean? “Revered”, which is a hell of a nickname! But that’s just a theory… A CS2 THEORY!

### Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard
This is also speculation, as most younger players don’t really have to answer questions about nicknames (we’re guessing gaming journos got tired of getting “I just made it up” as an answer), and unless they’re really popular, redditors and HLTV forum users don’t really go as far as have theories. So for jabbi… We’re guessing it’s a similar story to Ropz, jabbi just sounds like a potential pet name for Jacob (note that it’s pronounced “yabbi”), so we’re going to go with that as our explanation.

### Benjamin “blameF” Bremer
We’re not sure of the origin here, but we have some theories. A lot of questions (without answers) have been asked about the F in Benjamin’s name, but we have our own theory. Blame is known as a bit of a shitposter, so we suspect that this name is a bit of self-deprecating humor on his part. “Blame me!” he says. The F? We suspect it’s a joke on “press F to pay respects” - but without asking him, we’ll never know!

### Emil “Magisk” Reif
Finally, an older dude! We’re celebrating because those have a lot of sources to confirm their name origins. Magisk is simply… Magic in Danish. And Magisk used to be called Magiskb0y, before deciding he’s no longer a boy (and for unknown reasons not deciding to call himself Magiskm4n) and dropping the suffix. Magic Boy is a pretty generic nickname, so we’re guessing a young Emil really liked Harry Potter or something, and decided to throw that into his online life.

### Casper “cadiaN” Moller
This one’s hard. cadiaN’s been around for a while, but we couldn’t find a source for his nickname. Our suspicion is that it has to do with Cadian troops from Warhammer 40k, but it might just be a spin on Casper, or a random name generation. We’re going to ask Casper what he had in mind during his next reddit AMA, since he loves those!

### Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato
We hadn’t had one this obvious since NiKo. KSCERATO is simply… K. S. Cerato, as we believe S. is his second initial, very common in Brazil. There’s not much to talk about here, so let’s move on to our final player!

There isn’t a lot of speculation online about this, and since Twistzz has played CS since a very young age, we’re guessing this one is similar to s1mple and mONESY, it just sounded cool. The Stories Behind CS2 Pro Players' Nicknames

Ever wanted to turn your CS2 experience into a point-and-click adventure? Well, AWPing is for you. We’d love to say that it’s simple — save up money for the AWP, buy it, destroy people. But unfortunately, first off the AWP was nerfed, and second off, you’re not 2013 KennyS. Don’t know who that is? Well, I’m old so I do. Go check out his highlights.

Either way, AWPing has changed a lot since the run-and-gun early days, and yet is still a crucial part of every CS2 match and a skilled AWPer can turn a game on its head, as can a whiffing wizard who will give up positions every time an enemy enters his crosshairs. That’s why, we’re giving you a very basic AWPing guide to make you the sniper your team needs (and probably doesn’t deserve given the standard of PUGs)

## General Tips
When AWPing, we have a few general tips you should use to make the most out of your sniper rifle:
1. Remember the scope makes sound, so don’t get caught off guard.
2. Click the switch weapon button twice (I have it bound on my mouse) instead of zooming out. You’ll get out of zoom quicker.
3. Keep track of your opponent’s economy. Don’t buy the first AWP against a full eco, as you might live to regret it.
4. Don’t shoot while moving.
5. Aim at the body, not the head. You’ll kill them anyway.
6. Avoid no-scopes whenever possible.

## CT Side AWPing
While not all maps require an AWPer on the T side, AWPers on the CT side are a cornerstone of basically every competitive map. However, with great power comes great responsibility, and in this case, the responsibility is to not die in vain. After all, the AWP is a costly weapon, an on CT side, you need more money than you would on the T side.

That’s why, you’ll want to set up in a position that you can easily hide in and wait for the cavalry in case things go awry. Aggressive plays are awesome, but be sure to set them up with your team and think about your and your opponent’s economy. If the terrorists are forcing Mac-10s you don’t want to be giving them a free AWP with a YOLO peek. However, if you’ve got $10k+ in the bank, you know the terrorists are on a full buy and you want to ruin their momentum, this might be the moment to have a teammate flash you in for an aggressive peek.

For every map there’s also a default position where you expect an AWPer to play most rounds in PUGs (this is different for organized teams, which might go for completely different positions).

Mirage: Window
Inferno: Long-side Mid
Dust II: Long A or Mid-Doors
Ancient: House
Anubis: Middle
Vertigo: A Ramp
Nuke: Outside

These positions have a few things in common. They have long sight lines giving you the advantage with the AWP, they’ll favour you in battles against rifles, but you might get traded OUTTA NOWHERE by a fellow AWPer eager to sacrifice a wild peek from a teammate to get one over on you, and open up a crucial position.

Another thing is that people know AWPers want to set up in these positions, which means that the higher the level you play out, the more likely it is that your position will be simply smoked the hell out by the Ts before you even get to it. This means that you’re going to either have to wait out agonizing seconds for the smoke or molly to fade (by which time the Ts will be ready and waiting for you to peek) or… change position to a backup and surprise them from there. Remember that there are a lot of options, and in some positions you might be stuck being away from the action and faced with a hard decision. Our tip: If in doubt, save. The AWP is worth a hell of a lot of cash, and it’s worth more than one round, especially early on in the half. Of course, if it’s a do-or-die situation, go for the retake, hell, throwaway your AWP for a rifle if you feel like that’ll help. But don’t go for broke in a 1v3. Simply hide in the other bomb site and hope they won’t go looking for you.

Aggression is also a great counter to utility usage. On maps like Mirage, you can get ahead or the smoke, or peak aggressively from connector. It’s a risky strategy, but if set up along with teammate support it can decimate a T-Rush. On the other hand, if you don’t have that, safe yourself from embarrassment and play a safe angle. This is best used when you have a great spawn, and can get into position before the Ts get there.

Then there are double AWP setups. In those, a second player, usually a site anchor will take a second AWP to hold the line. Think about B on Mirage, you can play it very passively from Kitchen (Market for all you Yanks out there!) get a pick on the first T before backing off and waiting for help on the retake. A double AWP can surprise the opposing team, but if you repeat the positions too much, you might end up being smoked and flashed out of play, and doing your best Dzhami “Jame” Ali impression desperately clinging to your weapon.

## Terrorist AWPing
Terrorist AWPing is a bit of a different beast altogether. Think about the CT, holding an angle for minutes at end. Think about yourself, being able to either spoil his day with a wicked peek, or run to the completely opposite side of the map and try to open something up.

While spawns are important for CTs, they’re absolutely crucial for Ts. A great spawn for mid on Mirage can shock your opponent slowly crawling into window, and a good spawn for mid doors on Dust II might get you an extra shot or tag, while Long may let you get ahead of that pesky molly. Overall, you’re in a game of timings, and for the first part of every round, you are in control. 

AWPing on T-side is harder since unless you’re a passive AWPer looking to take out rotations, you will have to peek, prefire, and pray your way to a lot of duels. That’s why, unlike CT where an AWPer can dominate lower ranks by knowing three angles on every map, on T, you have to know ALL the angles, and know how to peek them without getting killed. Learning utility usage will help you clear many of them, but to really AWP well you’re going to need something that many hate…

You’ll need teamwork. Get yourself a buddy for queueing and ask them to learn some basic flashes. Use them to peak and voila! You’ve just massively improved your performance without hours of mechanical training.

Finally, saving isn’t as important as on CT-Side, but saving a full AWP loadout is still better than dying. So if you know the round is screwed, and you have no time, burrow down for some extremely boring Jame time.

## Conclusion
These are some general basic tips for moving with an AWP. Applying them to your game will definitely help you become a super-sniper, at least on lower ranks. As you climb up the ranks, you’ll need to practice mechanical concepts that are hard to explain. However, at lower levels, smart positioning, utility usage and economy control will guarantee you some easy AWP kills.

Inna sprawa, że ludzie wiedzą, gdzie snajperzy chcą się ustawić, co oznacza, że im wyższy poziom gry, tym bardziej prawdopodobne, że twoja pozycja zostanie po prostu zadymiona przez T, zanim tam dotrzesz. AWP jest warta mnóstwo pieniędzy i jest warta więcej niż jedna runda, zwłaszcza na początku połowy. AWPing po stronie terrorystów to zupełnie inna bestia. Pomyśl o CT, trzymającym kąt przez minuty. Pomyśl o sobie, mogącym zepsuć mu dzień wspaniałym wychyleniem, lub przebiec na zupełnie drugą stronę mapy i spróbować coś otworzyć.

Chociaż spawny są ważne dla CT, są absolutnie kluczowe dla T. Świetny spawn na środek Mirage może zaskoczyć przeciwnika powoli wchodzącego do okna, a dobry spawn na drzwi środka Dust II może dać ci dodatkowy strzał lub trafienie, podczas gdy Długi może pozwolić ci wyprzedzić ten irytujący molotow. ## CS2 Most Popular Slang Terms
While many words used in CS2 are well known across multiple games, we will not be explaining common terms like “noob” and such, since, you know, it’s the internet, we believe you have it figured out. That’s why, we’ll stick to the terms you might be confused by when coming into the Counter-Strike world, divided alphabetically.

ADR: Average Damage Per Round, an indicator of how much damage you deal in every round.
### B
Boost: The act of jumping on another player to see over a wall, or climb onto a different position.
### C
CT: Counter Terrorists
### D
Default Plant: The safest plant on every bomb site, usually the most covered, but least advantageous in terms of post-plant positions.
### E
Eco: An economy round, where teams don’t buy any equipment to save money for a full buy. If you hear somebody say “Full Eco”, don’t buy anything unless you want to get screamed at.
Entry Frag: The first kill made by the Ts when entering a site/position.
### F
Force Buy: Buying the best equipment you can, when you’re low on money. For example, an MP7, half-kevlar and one frag grenade.
Full Buy: Buying the best equipment, usually an M4/AK-47, kevlar, and 4 grenades + a defuse kit on CT side.

GLHF: Good Luck, Have Fun. Commonly used at the start of games.
### I
IGL: In-Game Leader, a role for players who select strategies and tell their teammates where to go. Not popular in casual play.

Jame Time: Overly cautious tactics focused on saving weapons in winnable rounds, based on the Virtus.Pro’s IGL Dzhami “Jame” Ali’s playcalling.
Juan Deag: A headshot performed with a deagle, instantly killing a player.

NA play: An old meme stating that North American CS players can’t really play, that’s why if you screw up, a lot of Europeans may call it an “NA Play”.

One Tap: Killing somebody with a single headshot.

Peeking: Taking a duel by moving out of cover.
Pop-Flash: A flashbang that explodes in a way unavoidable for your enemy.
Post Plant: A position after the bomb has been planted. Some bomb positions are better for some post plant positions, which is when you’ll hear “planting for <position>”.
Prefire: Shooting where you think the enemy will be when peeking.

Retake: The attempt by CTs to take a site after the bomb has been planted.
### S
Save: Avoiding getting killed in a losing round in order to ensure that your weapons transfer over to the next round.
Smurf: A better player competing at lower ranks, usually on a secondary account.
Stack: Placing all your CT players on one site in order to defend against their attack.

T: Terrorists.
### U
Utility: a term for grenades and (on CT side) the defuse kit as a whole. Basically, any “extra” buys.
### V
VAC: Valve Anti Cheat, if you hear or see this, somebody might be suggesting you’re cheating.
### W
Wallbang/Scan: Shooting walls in the hopes of hitting an enemy in cover behind them.
Walling: Cheating by activating a wallhack.
word.exe: Another reference to cheating, as Nikhil “forsaken” Kumawat was caught cheating at an official event with… you guessed it, a file named word.exe being found on his computer.

## StatTrak: The Basics

StatTrak is a kill counter that tracks how many kills you get with a specific weapon when its StatTrak skin is equipped. On firearms, it’s a small digital display, while on knives the numbers are scratched into the blade.

Most weapon skins have StatTrak versions. Even music kits have StatTrak editions, which keep count of how many times the MVP Anthem has been played! However, gloves don’t have StatTrak, and neither do Souvenir skins. 

While browsing the PirateSwap Exchanger and other sites, you’ll notice that StatTrak skins (or their prices) are usually marked in orange. It’s also likely that these prices will be higher than for standard versions. StatTrak skins are rarer, so they tend to cost a fair bit more, too. StatTrak can’t be added to a skin or removed

## How StatTrak Works in CS2

Like all good things in life, StatTrak has its quirks and limitations. Let’s get into more detail and see how StatTrak behaves in different scenarios! 

### Resetting Kills

First up, **the kill counter resets when you sell or trade the skin**. So if you’ve been grinding out headshots and then decide to offload that M4 skin, well, there’s no sentimental value carried over for the buyer. The StatTrak will be at 0 when the skin appears in the buyer’s inventory. 

You can use this to your advantage if, for whatever reason, you want to reset your StatTrak counter. The skin doesn’t actually have to be sold—it’s enough to just list it on Steam. Throw it up for sale for a couple of minutes and take it back, the counter should show zero. Or, well, six zeros. 

### Transferring Kills

Worried about leaving your precious kill count behind when you swap skins? Valve has your back with the StatTrak Swap Tool. This handy little gadget lets you **transfer your hard-earned kills from one StatTrak skin to another of the same weapon**. So, if you just unboxed a fresh new AWP with StatTrak, but you don’t want to lose the 5,000 kills on your old one—boom, problem solved.

### Other StatTrak Rules

**If you drop your StatTrak weapon mid-game** and someone decides to pick it up, they won’t get to steal your glory. Instead, they’ll be greeted with a big ol’ ERROR flashing on the kill counter. Yep, that weapon knows it’s not in your hands anymore. Sorry, not sorry. Their kills won’t count towards your total. 

Also, if you’re feeling like a total beast and **manage to hit the max kill count** of 999,999, don’t worry—your kills don’t disappear into the abyss. The counter does reset to zero, but the actual number of frags is still safe and sound. You can always inspect the skin from your inventory to see the real total.

Last but not least, trade-ups. If you’re thinking of throwing StatTrak skins into a trade-up contract, that’s totally possible—but there’s a catch: you can only use other StatTrak skins.
