m0NESY moves to Team Falcons: How it changes the balance of power in CS2
Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, a 19-year-old sniper, officially moved from G2 Esports to Team Falcons on April 14, 2025. This transfer was one of the most high-profile events in the CS2 world, sparking much discussion in the cybersports community. Rumors claim the transfer amounted to $2.5 million dollars.
Who are Team Falcons and why are they on the rumor mill?
Team Falcons is a Saudi Arabian eSports organization that has been heavily investing in CS2 lineups in recent years. In 2023, they brought in legendary coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen, known for his work with Astralis and Team Vitality. Since then, the Falcons have assembled a roster of world-class stars including Emil “Magisk” Reif, Nikola “NiKo” Kovacs and others. The team's goal is to dominate the international scene and win the majors.
m0NESY: path to the top
Ilya started his professional career with NAVI Junior, where he quickly established himself as a talented sniper. In 2022, he joined G2 Esports, replacing Francois “AMANEK” Delaunay. Since then, m0NESY has become a key player for the team, winning several major tournaments and earning four MVP awards from HLTV:
- BLAST Premier World Final 2022
- IEM Dallas 2024
- BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024
- BLAST Premier World Final 2024
His aggressive play style and impressive highlights such as 1v4 clutches and fast aces have made him one of the most recognizable players on the scene.
Why did he leave G2?
According to Ilya himself, he wanted to continue playing with NiKo, with whom he had a great relationship in G2. However, the organization did not plan to sell m0NESY, which became an obstacle for their joint game. In the end, after lengthy negotiations, Team Falcons managed to buy out Ilya's contract, despite the fact that it was eight months away from expiration. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but according to insiders, the amount of the transfer could break the record in the history of CS.

In Team Falcons m0NESY replaced Abdul “degster” Hasanov, who was relegated to the reserves. Although degster is an experienced sniper, his style of play and results did not fully meet the expectations of the team. This position of the team seems strange, as degster recently won his first ever MVP at PGL Bucharest 2025.
New Team Falcons lineup
With the arrival of m0NESY, Team Falcons lineup looks as follows:
- Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov - sniper
- Nikola "NiKo" Kovacs - riffler
- Emil "Magisk" Reif - riffler
- Rene "TeSeS" Madsen - riffler
- Damian "kyxsan" Stojilkowski - captain
With this lineup and under the guidance of coach Zonic, the Falcons are aiming to win major tournaments, including the upcoming BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025.
