The CS2 market has finally picked up momentum and is starting to go absolutely insane in certain areas. If you've been watching from the sidelines, now might be the perfect time to understand what's happening and where the real opportunities lie. The Budapest Major is still ongoing, and we're approaching the end for many specific items that could shape your investment strategy moving forward.

What's Happening with Budapest Major Capsules Right Now?
The Budapest Major capsule ROIs are sitting relatively average right now, hovering around 50 to 60% all across the board. However, here's the critical part you need to understand: the ROI isn't based on a single dollar amount. This means some capsules will only double in value, while others might 4x. Not every single capsule has profit potential, so you need to be very careful with your selections.
We still have over a week left before the Champions Capsule comes out and everything wraps up. We're currently in stage three with the playoffs still to come, so there's definitely time before anything major concludes. If you spot something that falls under the radar right now, it could be a very strong opportunity to keep your eyes on. The potential for major investment returns is real, but some items are definitely going to be overinvested, just like we've seen in the past.

Why Cheaper Rare Cases Are Your Best Bet Right Now
When it comes to investments, especially in the case area, one focus that consistently shows promise is cheaper rare cases. If you look at the prices, you can completely understand why they're attractive. The majority of these are super cheap to the point that you can make a significant amount of profit without them having to go up $5 or $10. This is honestly what experienced investors focus on the most because it usually has some of the most potential ROI down the line.
You're getting in at a cheap enough price point that the ROI has the opportunity to balloon later. If we look at the past couple of weeks, this has definitely shown up in real data. The Gallery Case is back to around $155, while the Snakebite Case and Clutch Case have recovered to price levels that are relatively accurate for where they should be sitting. Even the Fracture Case is still not really moving, so there are some that haven't moved a ton.

The Danger Zone Case and Prisma Cases haven't seen too much action, but some of the cheaper rare cases have definitely started to see movement. It's exactly what we expect to see. Although if we look at unboxing numbers, these cases are the most unboxed, so we would expect to see a little bit more movement. However, this is a very long-term play, and focusing on short-term fluctuations is a mistake.

Market Sentiment Is Turning Bullish
One area worth monitoring closely is market sentiment. Right now, it's at a 90% bullish outlook. This is obviously very subjective and only certain people vote on this—there are only 619 votes—but it's very indicative of what we're seeing inside the market right now. People have once again turned positive after months of uncertainty.
If you want to look at the market cap, it's at 5.7 billion. While not the greatest representation on its own, if you look at the majority of items over the past 7 days, they are back up. Some of them have increased a pretty significant amount, like the Sports Gloves Hedge Maze, which has finally reached a price point where it's actually going up quite significantly in the past 30 days. Many other items that have come from this latest update are following suit.
I definitely think this isn't going to be something that drops down immediately, but some of these have shot up way too much. I don't know if they're going to be keeping these levels, but still, at the end of the day, this is really good to see. It definitely shows people are still willing to put a lot of money back into the market. Although, definitely be careful because this is a very quick run-up in price. Something like this has definitely got the possibility to pull back at least a little bit.

The Expensive Rare Cases Are Going Absolutely Insane
Now, talking about the part of the market that's gone absolutely insane over the past couple of weeks, that's going to be expensive rare cases. This is very drastic when we look at the difference between the price of the Gamma 1 and the Gamma 2. Usually, these things are identical. Right now, we're seeing over a $2 difference in them. That's because they've shot up so much in price. It's absolutely insane.
Carry that over into something like the Riptide Case, which is a little bit different but has gone crazy as well. We've seen the price jump from $14 up to $23, then back down to $18, then up to $27, and now back to around $24. This is not the only case experiencing volatility. If we look at the Glove Case, this thing has more than doubled, sitting at a $35 price point with peaks much higher than that.

It seems like we've got a pretty baseline level for the majority of these older rare cases. The Spectrum 2, Chroma 3, and Revolver Case are all up around 25%. It seems like it happened all at one time, which is very interesting. But the majority of them have seen growth right around this level if they haven't absolutely exploded.
It's very interesting to compare the cases that did versus didn't move. If we talk about the Operation Phoenix Case, this thing has pretty much remained unchanged. If we talk about the Operation Hydra Case, a much less liquid one, we can see a price run-up very clearly of around 50% over the past 2 weeks, which turned it from $36 to $54. A very significant increase that shows the market is picking specific winners.
Should You Be Investing Right Now?
When something like this comes up, a lot of people are really asking the question: should they be investing right now? For me, it's a very clear yes, depending on the commodity. If we talk about rare cases, just all across the board—cheaper and more expensive—the majority of them are not moving a ton. Obviously, some have shot up in price, but there's still a lot of really undervalued ones.
If we go back to previous market analysis, the market usually starts to move in December and it usually stays on that trajectory for around 6 months. Obviously, there are so many factors that influence that, but this is just the start of what we're going to be seeing moving forward for an overall market trend.
That being said, obviously you got to make sure you're picking winners. There are so many variables involved, but it really depends on the data at the end of the day. For me personally, I think there's a ton of opportunity right now when we're talking about investing for the long term. And that's usually the outlook I try to take with something like this.

What About Coverts and Knives?
One area that a lot of people have really been looking at right now because of everything going on is coverts and knives. The majority of these have kind of leveled out at a very interesting price point. Obviously, we've seen the gloves and the knives individually range so much, but as an overall, it seems like right now prices have kind of reached their medium. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but over the past week, the majority of them have seen maybe between 0 to 5% movement, which at this point is very low compared to what we were seeing week over week previously.

I don't know if this is going to be something that's going to be a long-term trend. Obviously, we are still every day having more and more gloves and knives being created through trade-ups, but it seems like at least at this point, the medium has kind of been reached. So, when coming to the question of should you be buying your coverts and knives right now? Well, obviously it's very dependent on the specific item you're trying to get into, but I don't think that these prices are going to be drastically changing from the price point they're at right now.
If you want to look at the majority of these items, they have gotten to a point where we're seeing relatively stable prices. If you're trying to buy, these are probably going to be the most stable prices you're going to be seeing moving forward. We're not going to see any drastic drops most likely. Obviously, no one knows exactly what's going to happen, but I don't think you're going to be seeing that instant profit either. And for me, that's actually a good thing. I think that's the stability I'd want if I was trying to make an investment into this area.
The Bottom Line
Overall, definitely be a little bit still skeptical, but I think you're probably in a position now where you can invest for the long term. There's obviously just going to be a lot of new changes inside this area. What exactly does something like this mean for you? Well, obviously, if we're talking about these price explosions from earlier, this is a very good thing. It's something I love to see when we're talking about the case market.
Obviously, there's going to be some drastic pullbacks because of this. We talked about that previously, and that's not anything unexpected, but I'm really excited by all of this. If we look at unboxing numbers, everything is definitely going strong inside the case market, and theoretically, we should be seeing values like this. When we're talking about the rest of the market, things are kind of going status quo. If you're trying to make an investment, it could be an opportunistic time depending on what exactly you're trying to get into. But always look at the data beforehand, and make your decisions based on facts rather than hype.

FAQ
What are Budapest Major capsules and why do they matter?
Budapest Major capsules are special collectibles released during the ongoing CS2 Budapest Major tournament. They're valuable for investors because they typically appreciate in value after the major concludes and the Champions Capsule is released. The ROI potential ranges from 2x to 4x depending on the specific capsule and market conditions.
Why are cheaper rare cases better investments than expensive ones?
Cheaper rare cases like the Gallery Case and Snakebite Case require less capital to achieve significant percentage gains. Since they're priced lower, even a $2-$5 increase represents a meaningful ROI. They also tend to have more stable long-term growth potential compared to the volatile swings seen in expensive rare cases.
Is the market currently bullish or bearish?
The market is currently showing strong bullish sentiment with a 90% positive outlook among voters. Most items have recovered over the past 7 days, and the market cap sits at 5.7 billion. However, this doesn't mean every item will increase—selective picking based on data is essential.
Should I invest in coverts and knives right now?
Coverts and knives have reached a relatively stable price point with minimal weekly fluctuations (0-5%). While you won't see dramatic price increases, these stable prices make them good long-term holds. They're ideal if you want predictable, stable investments rather than quick profits.
What's the difference between Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 cases?
Normally, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 cases are nearly identical in price. Currently, there's over a $2 difference between them due to recent market movements and price explosions in the rare case market. This divergence suggests market inefficiency and potential opportunities for observant investors.
How do I pick winning cases for investment?
Focus on cases with strong historical data, reasonable entry prices, and clear supply-demand dynamics. Analyze unboxing numbers, recent price movements, and market sentiment. Avoid overinvested items from major events. Long-term plays (6+ months) typically offer better ROI than short-term speculation based on daily fluctuations.
What does the Operation Hydra Case price increase mean?
The Operation Hydra Case jumped 50% in two weeks (from $36 to $54), indicating that less liquid cases can experience significant appreciation when market conditions align. This shows that even older, less popular cases can become valuable investments if you identify the right timing and market conditions.
