Top 10 CS2 Players of all time.
A lot of legendary players have gone through the Counter-Strike ranks, and in this article, we’ll be talking about who we believe are the Top 10. But it won’t just be us talking about it, we’ve also asked Chat GPT to compile a list based on some objective data available on the internet. Ready? We’ll see how we stack up!
Honorable mentions: Karrigan, dupreeh, Magisk, shox, NBK, gla1ve, olofmeister
10.Patrick “f0rest” Lindberg
f0rest’s reign of dominance reaches back to the days of Counter-Strike 1.6 where his skills translated into a dominant run for Swedish Counter-Strike, from his days in fnatic, all the way to the epic days of Ninjas in Pyjamas dominance. An incredible rifler, known for holding insanely hard positions (you know “forest” on Mirage. Well, he popularized playing that spot), he’s one of Counter-Strike’s most legendary players.
9.Filip “NEO” Kubski
Just like f0rest, NEO’s greatest days came before CS:GO, as the Polish Golden Five ruled the CS world for a while, winning three prestigious WSG titles. However, the Polish core continued into CS:GO with a few changes, and NEO (along with the next player on our list) was a big part of the success of the longest-standing roster in CS history. He’s been a superstar rifler, AWPEr, and IGL throughout his career and always excelled at doing what’s right for his team, and while most of us didn’t experience NEO’s heyday, he must be recognized for what he brought to the table.
8.Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski
This might be a controversial one, but Snax is arguably the player most responsible for the great runs of Virtus.Pro over the years. While he never won Major MVP, he did win a Major, and finished Top 5 in the HLTV rankings two years in a row. He’s also responsible for some of the most epic Counter-Strike plays of all-time, including “The Big Apple Play” and the classic Mirage Underpass flank. An underappreciated gem of a player in our book.
7.Robin “flusha” Ronnquist
A player so good his nickname has become a synonym for cheating, even though he’s never been proven to be “on the gear.” An absolute natural of understanding the ebb and flow of a Counter-Strike game, flusha frustrated opponents while delighting fans. He won 3 Majors with fnatic, including a Major MVP. Despite controversies, the Swede deserves a spot on our list.
6.Christopher “GeT_RighT” Alesund
The king of early CS:GO, GeT_RighT is known for his insane gamesense and love for the game. He was already ranked top in the Counter-Strike 1.6 days before transitioning into a role in one of the most dominant teams of all-time in NiP, with 5 consecutive Major final appearances including one win. Known for insane timing and clutches, GeT_RighT definitely got his career right, making this spot much deserved.
5.Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz
A cornerstone of Astralis’ reign of terror, this Dane was never quite the top player in any year, but always one of the absolute best. The prototype of a superstar AWPer/Rifler hybrid, dev1ce paved the way for our list’s Top Two with precision and excellence. While he fell of off late, the four-time Major winner (and two time Major MVP!) still deserves a spot among the greatest.
4.Nikola “NiKo” Kovacs
NiKo is one of the unluckiest CS players of all-time in that he never had “his” era, always being overshadowed by one of the next three. Being in the HLTV Top 3 several times, he has never been the top player. Despite the Major win eluding him, he’s still one of the most technically savvy players we’ve seen in the game.
3. Marcelo “coldzera” David
Two-time Major Champion and Brazilian legend, coldzera at one point was considered to be the GOAT of Counter-Strike, however, after winning two HLTV Player of the Year awards, coldzera has gone cold. Be that as it may, he’s still one of the most important players in Counter-Strike history. His double jumping AWP against Liquid at MLG Columbus is etched in CS history, and definitely one of the best of all-time.
2. Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut
The French superstar rose to prominence in 2018, immediately becoming the Top HLTV player of the year, a feat he’d repeat two more times after that. He’s a one-time Major Champion, and consistently one of the two best players in the world, fighting battles against the next player on our list for that title. Even though his career is shorter than most here, what’s sure is that there are few players who can match up with his resume.
1. Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev
s1mple is perhaps unambiguously the best player to ever play Counter-Strike. The Ukrainian went an impulsive youngster to an undisputed elder statesman of the CS scene. Tied with ZywOo for the most the HLTV #1 Player of the Year award with three wins and two second place finishes, he’s been dominant in the game since 2017, also winning a Major Championship along the way, he also etched his name in history with his epic double no-scope on Cache in 2016.
